Go Back Report # 949

Stroud, Ontario - sometime in 1973, daytime

A man was climbing down from his roof where he'd been doing some tarring, and as he reached the ground an odd wind rose up and he felt a rushing, blowing all around him. He looked back up over his house and there was a silvery object looking like a cigar or a disk seen on edge.

He went into his house and called the police. The next day ("to my surprise") his report was in the local newspaper. A few days after that, a man showed up at his door and identified himself as working for the Canadian government in the Emergency Measures Organization, something the witness had never heard of. The man took the witness out to his car where he had a large book filled with pictures of UFOs. There were:

Kinds that can fly in the air and they can swoop right down, go in the water
like a submarine and come up somewhere else. And just fly right into the air.
I can't understand how such a thing could take place, but there, is such a
thing from outer space. And I looked in this book, it was such an exciting book,
and finally I came across the one that I saw. And there were two kinds:
one without windows in it, and there was one with windows all down the
side, like a big spaceship. And he explained to me that there's such a kind as
a mother ship which has a whole lot of UFOs inside them, and they explore all
around the area where they go and I thought, oh boy that is really something.

All of the latter part of the above sounds like the witness was being hoaxed by some UFO buff with a fake identity, but I'll leave it to those who know better. The real point of the long quote is to show you how genuine the witness is. This was a common feature of John's (Timmerman) interviewees.
