Go Back Report # 943

West Yellowstone, Montana - summer 1953 or 1954, during the day

A grandfather and his granddaughter and grandson were standing by a lake when they saw a disturbance in the water coming nearer and hesitating beside their boat dock. The surface water was agitated as if something was spinning underneath. The grandfather went to get a camera, but the thing took off across the lake and disappeared. When they walked into the water, they found a sandy bowl-like depression about five feet in diameter. John1 asked if the witness thought the object was fish spawning and was met by, shall we say, skepticism.
