Go Back Report # 926

Witnesses letter to NICAP –CF-

The following was told to Capt. Wm B. Nash, at Berlin, Germany, by Mr. Leo Kitchen, on Feb. 22, 1973. The sighting occurred in April, 1970.

Mr. Leo Kitchen, and his Uncle, Emmerson Avery, both former military pilots, and still pilots, observed a “fire”, like “burning newspapers”, lemon-orange in color, appear to rise out of the water in the middle of Lake Jesse, at Winterhaven, Florida, USA, about 11:00 P.M. Mr. Kitchen, if contacted, can come up with probably the exact date.

The “fire” became ball-shaped, like a basketball as it rose to 150-200 feet – Then slowly drifted toward them. Over their heads, it started straight up, gradually accelerating. In five seconds it was the size of a star. On the way up it went through a small cumulus cloud and lit up the whole cloud in a weird bluish-green florescence. No sound. No odor.

Mr. Avery had a previous experience, and any more desired details on the above sighting can be gotten by writing: --
