down after making some additional
maneuvers
or they dive down and then re-emerge to disappear in the sky (the way
that
the first contact with the water happens is most important).
Evaluation: Possible
meteorite

aerei scomparsi. L’ipotesi principale fu quindi quella del meteorite.
Sighting Description: The
manager and the stationmaster of Nicotera heard a prolonged and acute hissing,
and at the same time, in the sky, they noticed a trail of smoke that headed
toward the sea at high speed about five miles from the coast. At the moment
of contact with the water, a high column of foam was raised. Two witnesses
(however, there were many others) immediately informed the authorities, and
rescue operations continued until nightfall after which they were suspended
since nothing had been found and there were no reports of missing airplanes.
The main hypothesis was that it was a meteorite.
