Go Back Report # 622

Several neighbors in the Maguayo region, next to the Laguna Cartagena, reported that on the night prior to the explosion and tremor of May 31, 1987, they saw a strange “red ball of fire” moving over the lagoon and descending in a controlled and steady fashion, making a buzzing sound. Then it slowly disappeared into the waters of the lagoon. At 2:00 a.m., many residents were awakened by a strong white light coming through all the windows and openings in their houses. Curious about it, the neighbors looked out and were amazed by the sight of a huge flying saucer-type craft hovering low over the lagoon as if searching for something. According to everyone, the craft was covered by bright white light and it was circling the area very slowly. After about two minutes it left, swiftly disappearing in the sky.

The next day, at 1:55 p.m., the tremor and explosion occurred. We must remember that the epicenter was initially pinpointed by the authorities to be 81,000 feet under the Laguna Cartagena. But what really happened? We know that an unidentified object was seen entering the lagoon, another UFO was seen late at night as if looking for something there, and the next day, an explosion that rocked the whole region was felt.

After the tremor, several fissures appeared in different areas of Lajas and Cabo Rojo, and many witnesses stated that a bright, cobalt blue-colored smoke issued with some force from these crevices. Pedro Asencio Vargas, resident in sector La22 of Llanos Tuna, Cabo Rojo, and a teacher. . .
