Sighting Description: A witness, Mario Imperatori, a civil employee of the Prefecture, declared that he saw an object of remarkable dimensions, colored gray-silver, and shaped like a priest's hat rise from the sea approximately three thousand meters from him. Then the object quickly disappeared toward the west, flying at low altitude and nearly touching the surface of the sea. The observation lasted only seconds and the object took about five seconds to disappear, leaving behind a luminous wake, like a flash of magnesium. The object always remained surrounded by a brilliant white halo.
