January 20 -- Wellington, New Zealand -- Several eyewitnesses, including
airport officials, saw a large, yellow disc moving over Wellington
toward Island Bay. The UFO was said to have
descended on the bay near the Stretch of Cook.
The local police said the object was
visible from the coast by means of binoculars, but that the sea was too rough
to send a boat to investigate. A witness who lived near the coast claimed that
the UFO had burst into flames shortly before its descent.
