Sighting Description: Some people reported to the authorities an unidentified object falling into the sea which raised a large column of water upon impact. There were different descriptions of the object: some defined it simply as a meteorite, others a rocket, and still others who reported that it was a large parachute with something hanging; yet others said that an aircraft was in flames. The usual recovery operations with aircraft and ships did not lead to anything.
