Go Back Report # 1510

07-15-1977

CASE: 2-9-2

TYPE: NL

DATE: 7-15-77

TIME: 11:45PM

DURATION: 2 hrs.

WITNESSES: 5

PLACE: Blythe, CA

Adult witnesses on boat reported watching an extended oval light source, 3-4 times the size of the moon; it was seen to dart silently around the sky above them in all directions and on both sides of the river. The white oval was reported to stop abruptly, come close to the witnesses, and curve around the river. A searchlight? The sky was clear, the area rural, and the brightness intense (a strong reflection was cast on the water below).

The remoteness of this area made it difficult to pursue the case beyond the witnesses themselves. Radar coverage is poor here at low altitudes. No other reports from local police.
