Go Back Report # 150

A little more than a year later, on Oct. 31, 1926, the S.S. Somersetshire again encountered strange sea luminescence. The ship was in the same general area as that crossed by the Omar [See: 10-14-1923] and the Preussen [See: 08-23-1925]. P. H. Potter, the second officer, described this occurrence as "balls of brilliant light [that] seemed to shoot from the depth, burst on nearing the surface, irradiate and cover an area, seemingly of a couple of hundred square yards."
