The following cases are Type II-A sightings. At Pouilly, near Dole, France, at 6 P.M. on July 18 or 19, 1952, residents of Pouilly and Venarey saw a "spindle, having neither wings nor protuberances, emitting a brief, strong, winking light at regular intervals, and giving rise to a very thick white smoke that rapidly dispersed.” The witnesses described this spindle as about thirty meters long, in a vertical position, and accompanied by a loud rumbling noise.
