Go Back Report # 1290

Another witness who was present during the Sant sighting of March 17, 1983, was William Durkin, who saw the object while driving on Interstate 84 near the Sant home. Durkin also felt some type of psychic connection with the UFO at that time. At about 10:15 P.M. on July 23, 1985, he had another sighting, this time in nearby Westchester County while driving on Route 116 in Purdy, New York. Durkin saw a dark triangular-shaped object the size of several cars emerge from the waters of a reservoir and lift into the sky. The weather was cloudy but dry.
After coming out of the water, the object slowly rose into the sky and when it got just below the cloud cover a number of red lights came on that illuminated the bottom of the clouds. As the UFO passed through the clouds he could no longer see the object but did see red and white flashes like lightning, which slowly faded. The entire duration of the sighting was about forty-five seconds.
Later that night, Durkin had what he called "unusual dreams" of conversations with alien beings. They kept on telling him that he was to be contacted and that during his first sighting he was probed and they wanted him to help them. At first he dismissed the entire thing as just a dream, but then he had the "dream" over and over again at least twice a week for the next six months, at which time the dreams stopped and his life went on normally.
Then he had an incredible experience, one that he'd like to think was the product of an overactive imagination since he was reading quite a few books on the subject. But it was so real it that he has no doubt it actually took place.
After a long hard day at work he had come home and gone to bed. In the early morning hours he was jarred out of his sleep by a loud buzzing sound. At first he thought that there was an electrical problemin the house and got very scared. As he reached for the light, the wall near his bed began to glow.
Durkin lives alone and was the sole witness to what was happening. For some reason the light wouldn't go on, and then he saw a figure walk through the wall. It was the same figure that he had seen in his dream, a being of average male height and very slim with white
skin and large round dark eyes. It was dressed in a yellow outfit that looked like a diver's wet suit. The being glowed, but as he approached Durkin the glow faded.
The "man" told him not to be afraid and that he would have to come with him. We don't know what took place then because Durkin refuses to talk about it in great detail. He says he was told not to. He did tell us that he was taken out of his bed and that he and the being rose into the air and went right through the roof into some kind of gray tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, he was taken into what seemed like a biosphere with animals and plants and trees, all of earthly origin. The being told him this was an experimental staging unit used to develop disease-resistant life forms so that our planet would survive an upcoming viral epidemic that could destroy ninety percent of all life on the planet.
Durkin told us the being said not to tell anyone any more than that since their plan for saving life on this planet could be in danger if "other forces" found out. Durkin was then taken back home through the same tunnel. He thought he'd been gone for hours, but according to his clock only thirteen minutes or so had passed.
Durkin's life has totally changed since his first sighting. He said his wife left him and he was fired from his job. We don't know if what he told us actually happened or if there are other explanations for his "dreams" and the subsequent incident, but he is very passionate when he talks about them.
