While in the U.S. Navy in 1957 aboard the navy ice breaker USS Burton Island GB1 [AGB-1, 1949 - 1966], we where [sic - were] in the Bearing [sic - Bering] Sea, and I was on fog watch along with other shipmates on the bow of the ship.
It was indeed foggy and about 2:00 in the morning when all of a sudden and [sic-an] object came out of the water in front of us. It hovered for about 2 to 3 min. It disapeared [sic] into the water. This was picked up on the ship’s radar (See note 1) and reported to the bridge. They confirmed that they had seen it and that was the last I heard of it. I think to this day that the navy or at least the capitan [sic] covered it up for some reason. I have keep [sic - kept] this to myself as no one would believe me.

Witness’s name on file.
Note 1: This is a bit confusing. As the UFO came out of the water, radar could have picked it up. However, upon entering water, radar would have been useless BUT sonar might have picked it up. – CF-
