AVISTAMIENTO SOBRE EL MAR. (HUELVA. 25 DE MARZO DE 1981. 1900 horas).

Sighting at Sea (Huelva, Spain, 25 MARCH 1981, 1900 hours).

This case was investigated by GEIFO, in due time.

According to Eugenio Gómez Burgo, skipper of the fishing vessel Moguer-5, based in Punta Umbría, Huelva, his ship and six other fishing vessels were returning to their base on March 25, 1981, around 1900 hours (7 p.m.), when they saw something hovering one meter above the ocean waters. The object was grayish in color, approximately 50 meters in size, and basically the same in height (measurements roughly estimated). The object was static, rotating on itself, and had a double row of yellow lights. Under the object the water seemed to be swirling, an effect apparently caused by torque from the object.

The observation lasted about 20 minutes, then the UFO ascended vertically at great speed into the sky and was lost from sight.

The distance from the object to land was about 500 meters approximately.

The ships’ course was 000 [True north] and their speed was five knots, at about 1 km around the mouth of the harbor.
