Go Back Report # 1061

A Detroit man and his wife told of a UFO sighting last June near the Straits of Mackinac.

"Our summer home is on Bois Blanc Island, on the northeast end facing the Les Cheneaux Islands. On this night, I glanced out of the window and remarked to my wife, 'We have a new light across the lake tonight, and boy, is it a bright one!'

"It looked like it was near the water's edge and in a minute or so I looked out again and it seemed to be higher and brighter. At that, I went outside and down to the lake shore in front of our place for a better view. By this time it had risen 10 to 15 degrees, so I took it for granted it was an aircraft corning across the straits. By this time, there were two bright lights and they gradually were getting higher. I could hear no noise.

“Suddenly mult-colored lights came on around the two huge bright lights. At approximately the same time, a cluster of colored lights began to rise from the water’s surface and made a rapid arc to bring it into contact with the original lights. The whole thing was lighted up for a few seconds, then all the lights went out.

"To be quite honest, I believe it was a UFO. I had never believed very much of the UFO stuff before then, but I sure saw something that made a believer out of me."
