Report #AA-1007

DATE: December 29, 1972 (Approximate date

TIME: 1700 Hrs

INVESTIGATOR: John A. Lutz

SIGHTING LOCATION: Saranac Lake in New York State

NAME OF WITNESS: ON FILE (address & correct name of witness is known to this writer, however, she wishes not to be identified further at this time)

The woman XXX XXXX XX XXXX XXXXXXX XXX XX XXXXX, is a very responsible person, alert, accurate, and honest. The incident was related to this writer when I met her at My Aunt's Funeral on Oct. 10th. 1973.

DESCRIPTION OF OBJECT: As she was returning to her occupation after a short trip into town, she had taken a short cut around the edge of a large lake in New York State. The Sun had already set and it was almost completely dark, however there was a Moon out and the stars were very bright. As she walked around the lake, which was covered with ice, estimated to be several inches thick in this particular cove, she heard a muffled, rumbling sound. She said it sounded like it was coming from under the surface of the lake. As she stared in amazement, she observed the ice breaking up, as if something under the ice was pushing it up, and the ice disintegrated as a shiny, aluminum colored, submarine shaped object without any protrusions on its surface, came streaking out of the water and rose rapidly into the sky. NO sound was emitted by the object outside of the noise from the ice breaking up.

The woman estimated the size of the object to be approximately 25 feet long, and 8-10 feet tall. She also observed what appeared to be windows on the side of the craft facing her. She said it was its right side, and she was to the South of it. At the time of the incident, she was walking in an Eastward direction on the South shore of the lake's cove.
